The creative impulse…and how we resist it 🌸 April newsletter

Welcome to April.

Spring is always a time of new beginnings (and the endings that go with them), but this one feels especially active to me. As if there’s a cosmic memo: Stop waiting around and do the thing!

“The thing” being your soul’s calling. The dream you’ve been incubating. The gift you’re here to share.

But — this can seem like way too much pressure! Especially when a lot of us are also in “what-is-even-happening-right-now” mode. So…

The real invitation of this season is to start taking baby steps towards living each day in a way that feels just a little bit better.

This cosmic opening is going to last awhile, so you don’t need to rush into things you aren’t ready for.

You do need to start believing that your dreams and visions are worthy of pursuing ;) Because they are.

On Creative Resistance

This season tends to bring up the exact patterns that keep us from moving forward.

I’ll give you a recent one of mine:

I’m teaching a spiritual leadership class on April 16th. This is work I’ve been doing for decades. It’s a clear, soul-aligned offering.

And — as soon as I set the date, I felt the pull to over-prepare. To read every leadership book ever written. To listen to every bro-land podcast ever recorded. Like I’m going to put the complete history of leadership into a 3-hour workshop? And the bro-based version at that?? Nope.

It makes no sense. And yet it’s soooo familiar.

This is one form resistance takes: believing you’re not ready when you already are.

It shows up in so many ways: I need more time. More money. More healing. I’ll begin once things settle down a bit. Once I have that relationship. Once I finish up this other project.

These thoughts feel real...but often, they represent the very sophisticated ways we delay what our souls are here to experience and create.

A few other delay tactics I see:

  • You won’t make a choice. You want to do everything, or you're afraid of choosing wrong, so you choose nothing and nothing changes.
  • You feel fragmented. One part knows, another doubts. You're waiting to feel whole before you begin (but wholeness tends to come through beginning, not before it)
  • It's not actually your dream. You're loyal to a person, community, belief system…and somewhere along the way their vision became yours. Oof – this one is rough.
  • You talk yourself out of it. It won't matter. Someone else could do it better. How could you possibly dream big when the world is falling apart?

Not every dream is meant to take form…but I’m guessing all of us have creative visions that are truly needed right now.

And when you clear through what isn’t yours — the inherited beliefs, the subtle patterns that keep you small — these dreams start to come into focus.

This is the metamorphosis.

Over the past few years, I’ve been moving through this exact process.

I had a clear vision: a long-term training that could actually prepare people to do deep, ethical, soul-level work — with themselves and with others.

But the early versions weren’t ready. They were shaped by things that weren’t mine.

The program needed to wait until I'd done enough of my own clearing — through ritual, prayer, sacred scents, energy work, and sooo much time with the Earth — to see what was actually mine to offer.

(So meta that it will encompass all the rituals, aromatics, energy work and earth medicine that I used to create it, hehe.)

Now it’s here.

The Wild Alchemy Practitioner Program is a yearlong training in soul-centered healing, spiritual leadership, and transformation.

It runs May 16, 2026 – May 16, 2027 in a small, carefully held cohort.

At the center is soul restoration — a way of working that brings people back into coherence with who they actually are, so they can live and create from that place.

Inside the program, you’ll learn to work across a few core areas:

  • The human: deep listening, meeting resistance, ethical containers
  • The energy body: clearing entanglements, restoring your divine blueprint
  • The imaginal realms: trance, ritual, otherworld explorations
  • The offering: how to shape and share your work publicly, in a way that resonates
  • The animist: you will be held by the earth and guided by the the cosmos

And because this is a practitioner training, you won’t just experience this work — you’ll learn how to guide others through it.

Applications are now open.

Flower essences are such gentle, accessible, and subtle medicines. So subtle in fact that it never ceases to amaze me how well they actually work! I know it shouldn’t come as a surprise anymore, but somehow it still blows my mind that water can pass on a gift from nature that shifts our entire way of being in the world. In the past few months, I’ve been flooded with reviews saying how much my flower essences have helped people. Here are just a few: On Snakeskin Fritillary: I haven't tried all...

This is a wallflower. It might look unassuming, but its fragrance is divine. I love wallflowers. They seem to be one of the few wildflowers that thrives in our high desert climate, and this year they filled my garden with stunningly bright orange blooms. I’ve been creating an enfleurage of their aroma — it already smells divine, though it will be a few seasons of blooms before it’s ready to use. Enfleurage is the slow, methodical, luxurious process of placing aromatic blooms on neutral...

Rewilding the Temple Juniper Stokes • June 2026 We live in a world of duality. Yin and yang, feminine and masculine, dark and light — it is the coming together of two dual forces that holds the generative energy to create something new. Yet when duality becomes polarized, it causes so much of our human pain. Good or bad. Right or wrong. This or that. In reality, good and bad are part of one greater whole. Same with desire and aversion. Joy and grief. When we forget this, the fractures caused...
